The Onagomingkway Chapter, NSDAR, supports the educational mission of the NSDAR in the following ways:

Our Youth

Lac Vieux Desert Trail Society, National Society Children of the American Revolution (N.S.C.A.R. or C.A.R.): The Onagomingkway Chapter, NSDAR, supports its affiliated C.A.R. society through mentorship, fundraising, and the promotion of the Lac Vieux Desert Trail Society, C.A.R.

Community Classroom: The Onagomingkway Chapter, NSDAR, members support teachers and children in classrooms and schools in our communities by donating school supplies and other fundraising activities.

Junior American Citizens: The Onagomingkway Chapter, NSDAR, promotes civics education, American heritage, history, love of country, and service through contests and awards.

Literacy Promotion

The ability to read at levels necessary to succeed in today’s society is vital to our democracy. The Onagomingkway Chapter, NSDAR, supports adult literacy and involvement in literacy programs for children and adults.

Special Events – Constitution Week

The Onagomingkway Chapter, NSDAR, engages in public outreach to promote, inform, and educate the citizenry about the U.S. Constitution during the week of September 17-23. This week-long celebration of the Constitution was initiated by the DAR in 1955 and adopted by the U.S. Congress in 1956.

DAR Scholarship

The Onagomingkway Chapter, NSDAR, promotes the availability of DAR scholarships at our local colleges and universities.

DAR Schools

The Onagomingkway Chapter, NSDAR, supports the Kate Duncan Smith DAR School in Alabama, Berry College in Georgia, the Crossnore School and Children’s Home in North Carolina, the Hillside School in Massachusetts, and Hindman Settlement School in Kentucky through financial donations.

The Onagomingkway Chapter, NSDAR, places special emphasis on the following areas through fundraising and chapter programs:

  • American Indians
  • Conservation
  • DAR Schools
  • Women’s Issues
